Japanese Green Tea and EU Market
On May 8-10, 2015, SAKURAJIMA had the opportunity to welcome two green tea buyers from the UK, Mr. Ray and Ms. Michelle, and show them how green tea was produced both in the farm and in the factory in Kagoshima.
With the trust in the quality, safety and health benefits of Japanese green tea, the EU market has higher demand for Japanese green tea. During the meeting with both buyers in the Food & Hotel 2014 event, both of them were interested in importing and selling Japanese green tea in the UK. They also planned to extend their business to the EU market in the future.
Both buyers are experienced business people who have been selling cosmetics and consumer products online in the UK since 2012 via Amazon until their sales have gained achievements and recognition from the website. They now want to launch a new health business, which is the reason why they become interested in Japanese green tea. They would like to put an emphasis on product quality and tea flavor. Their target customers are consumers with moderate and high income, people who care about their health and online customers. Online business in the UK has advanced extensively due to the fact that it is convenient and fast, allowing customers to save time. Online business also offers delivery service, a great variety of merchandises and reliability. Nevertheless, most tea that is sold in England nowadays is black tea. For Western tea, if it is green tea, it is usually flavored tea mixed with herbs, fruits and flowers. Therefore, both buyers are looking for good-quality or premium natural green tea with great flavor, nice aroma and beautiful color without any flavor enhancer. They would like to sell it online and do the marketing and promotion with well-known department stores in the UK from time to time.
